The Moving Home – Chris Ka Leung Li

Chris Ka Leung Li is one of our studio artists upstairs and we’re really excited to have some of his works exhibited on the gallery lightbox! It’s fascinating to see how he’s incorporated tarantula spiders and found materials (Campbell Soup can and altered taps).

“Crafting a home is about achieving a sense of belonging. The more personal and permanent the home, the more there is a sense of belonging. Spiders have the ability to create their own homes by weaving webs and adapting to their shared environment with us. They invade our everyday household objects and make homes that are often destroyed or transported. Using the tunnel of taps and tin cans to protect themselves from predators, the spider’s home and sense of belonging is constantly under threat with a single kick of the can or twist of a tap.”
